The Spanish Ambassador in Ethiopia inaugurates the Portable GFM Minigrid

The Spanish Ambassador in Ethiopia, Borja Montesinos, with other local authorities, inaugurated in Hare the Portable GFM Minigrid, that was installed in this Ethiopian town, last March, with the collaboration of NGO Rescate and thanks to the financing of Spanish Cooperation.



Since March, the Portable GFM Minigrid, called "Julia Photovoltaic Plant", has been operating for rural electrification of this population and with which the inhabitants of Hare have access to drinking water.

With this photovoltaic solution, the population has increased levels of hygiene and health, while reducing the vulnerabilities of this agropastoral communities to famines in times of drought, because the livestock its main source of food, and also has water and grass.


The Operations Innovation Manager of GFM, Moises Labarquilla, and the Works Manager, Francisco Maqueda, who were also present at the installation of the Portable GFM Minigrid, last March, have traveled to Ethiopia, for the opening. Labarquilla and Maqueda, have checked and reviewed the correct operation of the installation. They were accompanied by the Director of NGO Rescate, Cristina Bermejo.
